Hi lovelies! As I am new to blogging I thought that a brilliant debut post would be to talk about why I decided to blog in the first place. To get here though, we have to start at the beginning so you might need a cup of tea and some digestives for this one..

I have had an interest in creative writing and media since I started my GCSES, but at this point I hadn’t thought about fusing the two worlds together. I loved the fact that through writing you could get lost in a different world and that world could be what ever you wanted it to be. The more descriptive that you were with words the more vivid the picture would be in the minds of the people that read them. Building upon this idea, incorporating media and moving image meant that I could pick up a camera and give my stories life.

Blogging wasn’t big back then but even if it was, I’m not sure that I would have been the right age to do it properly. My stories and scripts were enough and I was totally happy with that.

As time went on, I developed my skills in both areas continuing with Media and English Language & Literature in college and then university.

For a long time I didn’t know what I wanted to do in life. I knew what I loved to do but I didn’t know how practical my career choices were. I tried my hand at working in retail, was a receptionist, worked in admin and then recruitment, none of which felt particularly fulfilling for me.

I met an inspiring woman, a Social Media Executive from a previous position who I got talking to about the role and what she did. I was totally in awe of the fact that she had the opportunity to write blogs, post on social media, work on marketing and advertising copy all day.  This, to me,  was living the dream and I had to have a piece of that!

Following this I began researching the digital marketing industry, the role in depth and what it took to be in it. Within 3 months (which was a lot faster than I had planned) I had landed a job as a Social Media Executive and was all set to do the very things that I had wanted to do for so long. Media and Creative writing? I was living the absolute dream.

So here I am today but what about the blogging? Working within the digital marketing sector is fabulous but obviously you are writing for your clients and your own personality often gets lost. This is to be expected of course, but I yearned for a way to do the same things for myself, my personal brand. To talk about the topics that I wanted to and to sometimes even share what is on my heart.

This begins my blogging journey, I would love for to you stick around for the ride!
