Board games, banter and booze. A stone’s throw away from Haggerston station, tucked discreetly down a cobbled street lies a hidden gem.

In true East London style, this place has a trendy interior with exposed brickwork and LED lighting. The open plan layout with tables and a bar makes it perfect for an after-work ‘do’, whilst the ambient lighting makes it a great setting for a date. It is quite packed for a Monday night and the buzz of conversation makes if feel electric.

What’s cool about Draughts is that they have ‘Game Masters’ who truly know how to play most of the games and have no problems with making recommendations or explaining the rules to the ones that you have chosen. There is also table service so you don’t have to do the long and sometimes very tedious wait at the bar.

The menu features a good selection of foods perfect for eating as you play. I ordered the halloumi focaccia which, was delicious and after a glass of white I was ready to play some games! If you are a board game lover or want to try something a little bit different then this is definitely one for you. I highly recommend!
